第三期讲到ascribe时有这句话。
Ascertain弄清，查明，根据句意应该能选出来；
Assert声称，主张，断言；assert oneself坚持自己的权利、意见；
avert防止，避免；ascribe把……归于，把……归咎于。
2．翻译：假如对能源的需求以现在的速率继续增长下去的话，不久传统的能源就会不足了。
上一期讲assume时讲到这句话了。
Assuming （that） = supposing/supposed that 假定；
Concern表示涉及，有关于；使关心，使担心；Regard表示认为，对待，注视，注意，尊敬；
Concerning, Regarding可作介词，意为有关，关于；
Ascertain确定（事实），探知，查明，弄清。
如果大家看过《Harry Potter I》的电影的话，结尾的时候，Professor Dumbledore说了这样一句话：Assuming that my calculations are correct, I believe that a change of decoration is in order. Gryffindor wins the House Cup.就用到了Assuming that.

辨析：
assemble, accumulate, collect, gather这组词都有“集中，聚集”的意思。
Assemble集合，聚集。强调为了同一个目标而成为一个整体，或具有统一的性质，也因此产生“装配”的意思；
Accumulate积聚，积累。强调有规则地，逐渐地，不断地积累。
Collect收集。强调为了研究目的而做的有鉴别、有计划的收集，或是为了爱好而做的有条理的安排，逐渐收集。
Gather用途较广泛，可用于人、物或无形的抽象事物，如人群的集合，食品、文件、书籍的收集。强调将分散的东西收集在一起。
